  • Introduction to e-Learning in UPM


    e-Learning can be analogized as an important piece of puzzle in the sustainable education ecosystem. 

    e-Learning through digital and/or online tools (such as web and mobile apps for learning content preparation, engaging learning activities such as gamification and assessments) facilitate the development of resilient students encompassing criteria such critical thinking, creativity, communication and collaboration. 

    Specifically, lesson planning, ongoing lesson progression and post lesson/course completion analytics could extend the benefits harvested from utilizing technology enhanced active learning.

    This course presents the components contributing to the e-Learning ecosystem in UPM.


  • UPM e-Learning Ecosystem

    A symphony of enablers, constituted by the staffs, infrastructure and governance, is the recipe to the success of e-Learning initiatives in UPM. The Centre for Academic Development is in charge to foresee the management and development of e-Learning competencies through various forms of supports ranging from continuous professional development to learning management system and staff recognition.

  • Technology Enhanced Active Learning

    Web 2.0 tools for education is becoming a staple of learning because digital literacy enables interactivity, personalization of learning styles and flexibility to access of content. Various applications can be used to support the teaching and learning activities.

  • Blended Learning Initiatives

    InnoCreative Educator should be equipped with digital literacy to design the self-paced, engaging and interactive instruction through synchronous (e.g., teleconferencing, webinar and chat) and asynchronous mode (e.g., narrated slides, video lectures and animation). e-tivities can be conducted using online games, forum, survey and assignment. Lecture materials can be made interactive by embedding e-tivities and e-assessment modules using software such as H5P, EdPuzzle and even PowerPoint. An engaging educator should also have the ability to design the delivery of the course to encourage virtual knowledge exchange by facilitating interactive discussion and engaging course participants using suitable learning milestones.

    UPM continues to expand PutraMOOC's role in spearheading the university's open education agenda through diverse courses while celebrating its niche in agriculture. 

    Courses developed features various expertise, suitable for the enrolment for academic, upskilling and lifelong learning for learners at the academic institution, community and industry. 

    It is a vision that UPM sees through PutraMOOC that the university will go a step further towards globally fostering new generation of learning experience.

  • UPM Micro-credentials

    UPM Micro-credentials is an accreditation system that gives recognition to the acquisition or improvement of specific knowledge, skills, or competencies at a small or micro rate or volume, which is followed by students/participants in a certain period, through teaching and learning activities carried out through a physical or online platform, with an assessment method that can objectively measure the achievement of learning outcomes or certain competencies.

  • e-Learning Culture

     

    In UPM, the educators are cultured to consistently increase his/her quality of teaching and conduct of assessment through a multitude of modes of novelty pedagogies and leveraging relevant (digital and non-digital) technologies at the same time, to promote a meaningful and impactful learning experience for his/her students. 

    The culture of e-Learning is catalyzed through Community of Practices, sharing of best practices, recognition, and award, as well as continuous professional development. CADe offers various training sessions all year round suited to the evolving competency-building needs of resilient educators.
