The Amazing World of Microbes

This course contains eight units encompassing the basic aspects of Microbiology including microscopy, the microbial organisation and structure, types of microorganisms, and their relationships with genetics, ecology and public health.

 

At the end of the course, students are able to :
1. Differentiate between microbial groups based on their organisational and structure.
2. Elaborate on the characteristics of microorganisms.
3. Relate the concepts of microbial genetics, ecology and public health

Target Audience:

Students or members of the public who are interested in learning basic concepts and ideas of Microbiology. Basic understandings of Biology and Chemistry are helpful to learn this course.

Semiconductor Technology

The course covers the manufacturing practices used in silicon integrated circuit fabrication. Physical models are developed to explain basic fabrication steps of semiconductor devices.  Students are also exposed to discrete and integrated circuit device design and VLSI processing technologies.

1. Analyse basic semiconductor wafer processing steps in each process modules (C5)
2. Apply the knowledge of semiconductor wafer processing in semiconductor device fabrication (CS)
3. Explain the related processing technology in semiconductor manufacturing process (A3, CTPS)

Duration: 14 Weeks
